09-02-2026 — Still completing
Howdy all. Phew, it is hot outside. Heat alert day. Already above 80 headed to who knows what. Expected real-feel temperatures to be near 105. Fahrenheit that is. That’s 40-41 for you people that speak Celsius. Yeah, hot.. Oh, and I was asking Alexa when will it rain, and the response was not until Thursday (tomorrow). And with that, one of the largest, violent thunderclap shook the house for like 10 seconds, and the rain fell. Not for long, but quite hard.
My lawn guy is out mowing the very wet grass. Needs to do this area early, because the heat and humidity will be hell later for him.
Anyhow, starting from yesterday’s activities..
After replacing filters in the five air purifiers early yesterday morning, I proceeded to get about replacing humidity/temperature sensor batteries in a bunch of devices both inside and outside around noon. Mostly that went okay. Used well over a dozen AAA batteries and a few CR2450 coin ones too. Two of the outside ones got moisture damaged and wouldn’t work. They are supposedly weather resistant. Not completely obviously. Ordered a 3 pack.
Then it was time to attempt the humidifiers in the afternoon. The filter/wicks were delivered about 3:30. Oh my. I managed to do two of the three humidifiers in about an hour and a half. There was so much build up of gunk that the existing filter/wicks were melting into a pile of mush. And calcium / whatever crusty collection on inside base and the outside of the two each gallon water bottles, had to be soaked in CLR before scraping and scrubbing.
They are now super clean!!! I had just the one upstairs left. Which I’ll mention in a bit.
I think I went a little longer than normal between major cleanings. I usually do this like quarterly. I’m guessing it’s been closer to 8-9 months. But afterwards, my hands were very clean and not a speck under my fingernails to be seen. And the sink is shiny too.
Oh, I used that motorcycle lift / cart to roll the bases from their normal spots to the kitchen sink. Didn’t spill any gunky water this time.
I’m liking that lift cart. I used it to move grocery boxes from front door to fridge and cupboards Monday when Sam’s Club delivered. And to get a case of Mountain Dew from closet to fridge yesterday morning.
It is an old man’s favorite new tool!!
I did get to the upstairs humidifier this morning when I got up. It was the toughest to do because it had to be cleaned in the tub. Lots of bending and stretching. This one was more gunky than calcified. I guess I cleaned it less long ago. But it too, is super clean. The 3 humidifiers are really pushing out that “clean” tap water into the air. Of course with today’s heat and humidity (over 85% now) outside, they really aren’t needed.
But that is another project completed. Yippee for me!
An early morning delivery brought me some replacement sensors, and I got them connected, and put them outside in the same areas. The front tree which supplies its own shade in the summer, and near the railing of the back deck. Thus I completed that project too.
Looks like a couple are out of Bluetooth range as I did this screen grab. Too many walls between here and garage.
The garden is happy with this summer weather, and the tomatoes are producing too many now. And look at this.
What are the chances I’ll actually harvest a real pepper by end of month? I can only hope.

Possibly it should be called the Trump’s Dipstick!!
Of course these are popping up out front near the door. Disgusting.
