03-11-2026 — Almost powerful Actions

Howdy all. Well, the storms hit this morning. The rains have stopped, but winds are picking up.

Flooding conditions prevail. The drainage ditch, beside the road out front, had standing water for most of the morning.

I’m guessing more rain here than recorded by weather service. The storms were riding the Lake Erie coastline, heading east. And, they were even bigger storms well south of the county.

The gusting winds can now act on the many large trees in the area, that touch power lines and poles. The flooding loosens up the soil, around the trees, and the gusts blow them over.

So, power outages are happening around the area. Fortunately, not here, yet!!

The electricians got here around 8:45 yesterday morning and were here until almost 6 pm. Mostly done.

I am still using a manual transfer with lockout.  In an outage, I walk in garage and flip two switches and I’m on battery power.  Then just stay inside, and if outage continues for 8 hours or so, I will use remote to start generator, and recharge the batteries.

Well, it will be like that.  One of the 50amp 240volt outlets for generator extension cords was broken in its new packaging.

The electrician is going to try Home Depot or do an overnight order.  It would arrive late today (Wednesday) and he may install it on Thursday.  But for now, I’m charging via street power into solar generator rectifier into Ecoflow.  It is a workaround so I can get 240volts and a bunch of amps as input. When I found the right settings in the App, I was able to push around 6000 plus watts as input.

Take like 2-3 hours to fill batteries from empty.

I have a 50amp charging cable that was to arrive today which will allow a direct connection from street breaker panel to EcoFlow which should allow more like 7000 watts on the charge.   There is another that is due on Friday. Today’s seems to still be in California. We will see what arrives sooner.

Maybe it will be the electrician with the outlet, so I can use the generator when the batteries are discharged.

So, Yeah. I wish it was completed today.

We tried to “fake” that there was a generator by plugging the EcoFlow in a loop.  Pretending that the power going to the panel, when street power was off, was a generator being used to charge the EcoFlow.

That totally failed.   The EcoFlow would keep resetting itself. It must have known it was using itself to charge itself???

The test was sending 240 volts from the EcoFlow to the panel and 240 volts from the panel to EcoFlow —-  the same 240 volts.

Sort of like charging your iPhone from your iPhone. Just can’t work well. Or in this case, not work at all. I need the generator for longer outages.

In other strange happenings, watch this outdoor cat, caught on a security camera, last night.

Not quite sure what it is doing, but I have an idea. Hey, if it feels good, who am I to judge?

Then there was this idjut also caught on security camera, yesterday afternoon.

Not much smarter than the bush under the cat. Both are completely F’d up.

So, that’s my world for the last few days. Other than not sleeping for the last 4 nights. Figures, I get over the cold/flu/bug, and can’t sleep to regenerate my own energy. Maybe tonight I’ll get a few hours of sleep and can Enjoy Life
