04-24-2025 -- Hosed while cuking

Howdy all. Beautiful day outside. Mid 70s. Low winds. No rain. Slightly cloudy, with lots of sunshine. Where am I? Am I dreaming? Wish it would continue. But storms supposedly tomorrow afternoon. And high on Saturday in the 40s.

A miracle.

I’d end it with I can Enjoy Life, right here, but I have more pictures and dialog for today.

With this lovely weather, and the Air Quality still in the not bad range, I knew I needed to get my cucumbers transplanted outside. They were way too large for the container.

A couple of the plants were vining onto others.

First step though, is to get the hose back outside from its winter hideaway in the deckbox. That is always a struggle — well it has been the last few years as I age. It is large, heavy, and just unbalanced for moving.

Back at its summer home. No leaks after tightening for way too long.

I tilled the soil in the cucumber bed, and put in some of the plants.

More plants than I expect will survive. I put the others in the mini greenhouse for some protection from winds.

While I was out there, I did some weeding of planters, and was checking other raised beds.

Onions are popping in this one. The rest of that bed will get 3 tomato plants in a couple of weeks.

Onions popping in this bed too.

If you look closely, you can see the first potato plants of the year.

A few more potatoes. In all the beds, I saw about 10 potato plants that were peeking out.

And I think these are carrot plants. At least they are growing where I put the seeds.

And finally, the first strawberry blossoms for the year. No, not the big yellow dandelion (now pulled out), to the right you can see a couple of strawberry flowers.

That’s it for now. I did go around and give the front garden a good watering. If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, I’ll catch the back beds too. But this is the kind of weather that makes it possible to Enjoy Life.
