04-27-2025 -- I went Bowling for Citrus
Howdy all. A chillier than expected start to the day. Was only to get to low 40s. Was 36 overnight. I sure hope my outdoor cucumber plants survived. Too late to do anything now. Will check tomorrow (Monday) when it is warmer out there.
Last week I ordered a couple boxes of fruit online. One for immediate delivery, one for like 2 weeks later. Of course the immediate was late, and the later was very early. They arrived on Friday / Saturday. Figures.
So, anyway, I needed something to contain all of the fruit. I checked for 3D models and printed off 2 of these bowls. One in White PLA, the other in Blue PETG — used both printers. The bowls took just under 14 hours to print and finished at 03:15 this morning. And, both worked first time and look really good.
They are 250 mm diameter at the widest point. Basically the maxed out the print bed x/y axis. That’s just under 10 inches for you backwards Americans that can’t speak metric yet. I thought the shag carpet made a good backdrop for the picture.
Here they are on the table overfilled with fruit. There are multiple varieties of apples and pears on the left, along with a few bananas that wouldn’t stay in the other basket. The right basket has oranges, and lots of tangerines, and one mango, and 3 avocados and 2 kiwi, along with more bananas.
So, I’ll be snacking on fruit for a few weeks. And have bananas on my morning bagels, and avocado in something. The right basket could have been harvested in my backyard in Florida — well, other than the Kiwi. Hmm, I wonder why I didn’t try planting those?
Thus, for a little while at least, I’ll be eating well and will Enjoy Life.
