06-13-2025 — What’s up doc?

Howdy all. Happy Friday the 13th. Just another smoggy, possibly rainy, definitely below normal high temperature, day here in the area I still refer to as, The Mistake by the Lake. Yeah, that was Cleveland back in the days when the river was so polluted that it caught fire, and they had a ball park next to the lake, but I thought of the whole freaking state as the mistake.

Wow, now wasn’t that a positive opening? Sorry ‘bout dat. Anywho, the lawn service guys were a no show yesterday. Maybe they’ll be here today before the possible storms this afternoon. I’m guessing they were buried in work from missing lawns last Thursday. They had said many were not in need of a cut then. Well, I bet they needed extra work this week. And my yard is covered with clover flowers that stick up high and make the yard less neat.

Not that the yard looks all that great, but the clover flowers are exceptionally annoying.

I was outside just long enough yesterday, in the smog, to weed the garden beds. Lots of strawberries should be picked. But I had my fill last time. Birds and squirrels get this round. I also had to clear some of the carrot plants from around one of the pepper plants. It was getting crowded out.

If this is an indication of how they are going to grow, I’m going to have some great carrots.  🥕 

Of course once I remove tops and stringy roots I have enough for a salad 🥗 

Baby carrots are tender and sweet.

Some of the longer carrot roots suggest they may get to 8-10 inches long. I guess I’ll be freezing cut up carrots for in soups. Hmmm, pea soup with fresh carrots. Maybe I won’t use these in a salad. I think I have some canned pea soup in the pantry. Lunch menu is now fixed. I’ll enjoy that for sure. But until then, Enjoy Life.

Afternoon update. Lawn service did arrive and . . .

The clover blossoms start to go bye-bye.

And they are all gone.

I gave the team lead one of my 3D printed strawberry baskets and told him to get some before the birds and squirrels take the rest.

I think he was able to fill the pint basket.

He should have a good snack and Enjoy Life.
