07-02-2026 — Day 1 of Dent-hell month
Howdy all. Hot as the real Hades out there lately. I am happy the first 10 minutes outside, but then the poor air quality, and the high real-feel temps, over 100, wipe my out.
My lawn service was here. Wasn’t sure they would show or mow. But, they laid down so nice stripes through the clover flowers. Lawn looks good.
And while I was out for my 10 minutes, I filled up the bird feeders out front, and then replaced the batteries on one security camera that wasn’t even reporting that its batteries have been dead for a month. First generation model. Then decided to see what was under the dead potato plants in the corner of the one bed. This was from like three plants. I’ll leave the rest until use these. I overdid seed potatoes again this year. I keep planting fewer but still too many.
Hmm, these are “new” potatoes. The size is tough to judge via the picture. The largest are a little over 2 inch in diameter.
We are still having intermittent power outages because of the heat wave. There was one big one just a block or so away to the east that lasted for 4-6 hours. In the middle of the hottest part of the day.
I think the max out at one time was just under 20,000. But the outages were all over.
At this house, we had a couple of quick flickers during the day, when I assume the power company was flipping circuits try to get people back up.
And then a couple minutes of down at 01:40 am today (Thursday 5/2). That one made me need to reset all the things without UPS backup. Annoying.
I did spend some time playing with settings on my EcoFlow battery setup to try and and convince it to stay as close as possible to 100% charged. If I do need it, I want as much usage time as possible out of the 3 batteries.
BTW, as of 11:27 am, there are about 6500 homes without power, in the area. And it is 89 degrees with a real-feel of 107 degrees of Fahrenheit. In Celsius, that is 32 degrees outside and and a real-feel of 41 degrees. That be hot!!.
Oh yeah, almost forgot why I started this post. This morning’s dental appointment was a 2 hour fail. ½ hour there, 1 hour in the chair, ½ hour back. Seem the permanent cap had some sort of “hole” defect. The temporary cap was destroyed to remove it — if my regular caps fit that well, I wouldn’t need dental work!! Anyhow, they took 3 more impressions, with each one yanking on the rest of the teeth in the area, again! And they built a new temporary and installed it. The permanent is on its way back to the lab. I was set up with another appoint for 3 weeks from now. If the lab can “fix” the cap, it may be back quicker, and an appointment set up sooner. But, more likely, they will need to build a new one.
My Oral Surgeon consult on the loose implant, is for tomorrow at 3:30 pm, and at the same appointment, he will do an extract and implant on the upper bicuspid on the opposite side of the mouth. From what I recall, it will be 3-6 months before that will be ready for a crown to be added.
Not even sure when the regular dentist will start on the bridge that he says may have failing teeth underneath.
Ugh, with a side of Ugh!! It may be a year before I can chew well on both sides, and Enjoy Life
