07-15-2026 — Flowers for $$

Howdy all. We are in another short heat wave. Highs around 90 and humidity quite nasty. And we are under another Air Quality Alert. Hey, when it don’t rain, it pours. Isn’t that the saying? We may see a teeny amount of rain over the weekend. Or, it might just be torrential floods. Never know for sure.

I’m glad I watered garden beds yesterday morning. Should help keep them alive until Saturday, and I’ll either watch it rain, or water again.

I made a quick trip to the grocery store this morning. Side note — Gas was around $3.56 a gallon here, with 20 cents off for prepaid cash. Lower than I expected it to be. Anyway, I went to the grocery to pick up Yellow liquid eggs. Sam’s Club only carries liquid egg whites. While I’m not sure the yellow is nothing more than food dye, I like to see it in my omelettes. I picked up a half dozen cartons and put 4 in the freezer, along with a couple quarts of whites too.

Every so often Sam’s doesn’t have any available on the day I order for delivery. I also grabbed some of my favorite breakfast sausages from the freezer aisle, and mushrooms and chopped onions and feta cheese and ricotta cheese and mini tomatoes too. Got to have variety in my breakfast omelettes. My outdoor plants are full of green tomatoes, but none have ripened in last week. I thought they would be burying me in tomatoes by now.

In less great news, the dental insurance appears to have approved most of what the oral surgeon expected. I may owe them another $200 or so. At least that is how I read the statement. I’ll wait for them to bill me. I think that makes my total paid out of pocket to about $5100. But, look what they sent me.

I guess those are daisies. As in pushing up daisies.

For sure the delivery cost of that bouquet, had to be more than the flowers. The delivery driver called me to make sure I was home, and he was still 15 minutes away. I believe the florist shop is about 25 miles from here.

The sunflower out front is getting its yellow face on. I gave it another gallon of water this morning.

The oriental lilies are looking beautiful.

Especially this double white lily. I don’t recall it from prior years. I sent away for a few more “doubles”. I’ll pot them to see if they will pop next summer.

Oh, my leg/ankles are still recovering from the Adema caused by the antibiotics. Nowhere near as bad as they were. Most of the issue now is because I scratched the crud out of them for a week, and left fingernail marks from the force, so they are now healing and are a little itchy from that.

Not much else is happening in my world at the moment. I’m just trying to survive and do my best to ignore the stoopidity of the government, especially the executive branch, and the worsening economy and war, various murders by ICE, and just so many other things that need not be happening.

Hey, I did trim back my hair again yesterday. It is out of my eyes, and off my ears and not tickling the back of my neck again. And shampooing it only takes a minute, instead of 15 minutes. That’s enough to make it almost possible to Enjoy Life
