10-15-2026 — Who is the man
Howdy all. Storms are coming, including higher winds and possibly even snow, this weekend. So, I really wanted that 4th battery on the stack. I was going to call the various handymen I know, but it is like winning the lottery to get one to show up and take my money.
So, I decided to look around for someone with a weak mind, and a strong back. Actually, I have a weak mind already, so I just needed the strong back.
I am THE Man!!!!! I unboxed the battery this morning in time to get the box in today’s trash pickup. And then, I lifted the 110 pound inverter off the stack and wrangled the 120 battery into position on the stack and then the inverter to shoulder height to get on top of the stack again. A bunch of cable swapping to get the four batteries as two sets of two for equalized charging and discharging, and it is back in service. Still needs to recharge and balance the batteries, but should be done in less than an hour.
24KWH of whole house backup. Minimum hours with full time AC in maximum summer is only 6-8 hours. But in winter and most of the year, it will easily do 12-16 hours.
Oh. Need to add, with the allergies hitting me hard the last two months, my energy levels fell to near zero about 2 weeks ago. And then it was worse. Zero sleep for a few days. I didn’t even want to come downstairs before 9 or 10 in the morning. A whiny Kitty was the only thing that got me up.
I finally got like 4-5 hours of sleep the night before last which was a slight reset. With the hour or so last night my energy level is maybe 20%.
I am definitely done doing anything today that seems like work.
Getting the battery out of the box, and onto the lifting table was the hardest part. The foam protection in the box, suctioned the battery in place and would not let it come free. It was like I was trying to use my arms to lift my legs off the ground. Impossible.
The lift table easily took the battery from 10 inches off the ground to just above the existing top battery. I slid and lowered the new one in place.
That was after lifting the inverter onto the motorcycle lift. More or less a horizontal move of just a couple feet.
The new stack completed. Well, except for the charging/balancing of the batteries.
Thus, I am more or less ready for the next power outage. Easily handle 12-16 hours most of the year. Only the nastiest days in summer, when the AC is stuck on full time, will it be a short backup. Even then it can do 6-8 hours.
I finally got an order of the GABA delivered. Two nights in a row my anxiety level has been dropping again. Tuesday night I even got 4-5 hours of sleep in. Last night was less than an hour, but I wasn’t freaking out about it.
I do need a nap though. Sleeping better would make it easier to Enjoy Life
