10-28-2026 — Cleanup on Aisle no-more

Howdy all. Weather has been the same. Overly good for this time of year. And tomorrow? They are predicting a “summer-like” day here.

October 29th in Northeast Ohio being Partly Sunny and 75!!!! Wow.

With this good weather, it was time for a “pre-fall” cleanup of my garden beds. With the way I have been feeling lately (allergies kicking my butt), I knew it was time for a change. I tried to find a handyman to do the work, and they don’t want small jobs anymore. Duh, do two or three in one day, and make more than a bigger job. Oh, well. So I asked my lawn service “Weaver’s Lawn Service” to do it for me.

Bob Weaver brought out his team early this afternoon, after a morning install job was finished. In less than two hours, they did much more than I even expected.

I was wanting the trellis materials and all the other “crap” removed from the beds, and every piece of vegetation, other than the strawberry plants, yanked out. And all plastic/metal/fabric/string either put on the curb for pickers (metal), or in the trash for garbage pickup tomorrow.

Not only did they get that done, they cut down all of the Hosta-like plants around the shed, and garage, and trim the hedges along the garage, and even hammered in a bunch of new rebar stakes around a couple of the beds, to keep them stable for a few more years.

Such a nice reset for the next year. Only strawberry plants left in the wood beds — Those are raspberries and blueberry beds to the right. And all the trellis materials are gone. Yippee.

There were two ripening tomatoes left on the plants. I’ll leave them on the counter to see if they become edible.

A couple more “handyman” items are now crossed off my list. I wish I could say the shower head in the second bath was also crossed off, but I had a fail with it again. I did finally get the old one off by spraying over generously with PB Blaster and leaving that on it overnight to help dissolve the corrosion. It worked, with a little larger wrench, and a bunch of swearing. I assembled the new hose and head, and it leaked at the the head. I tightened that, and it leaking at the hose. I tightened that, and the forking nut cracked, and there ain’t no fixing that. Had to order another new assembly. It has arrived, and is sitting in that bathroom waiting for me to be willing to try again. This time I will use plumber’s tape, even though the distructions say it is not needed.

I just wish I was sleeping better, and could breathe a little better too. Allergies suck the life out of me. Not the way to Enjoy Life
