12-06-2025 — Nuttin butt a headache
Howdy all. Still very cold here. Not that it matters. I’m not going anywhere.
Yeah, right. I ended up with an emergency dental appointment on 12/4. A cap on a root canal decided to fall out the evening before. The good news is there was/is no tooth pain, and they glued the cap back on — for now. The bad news is that the remaining piece of tooth will need to be ground around and another post glued in it (after removing cavity rot), and a new cap built. So, at least 2 more dental appointments, and a pile of hundred dollar bills, will be gone. Next appointment is 12/17.
Comparatively, even that is good news, when I equate it to the night of 12/4 and all day 12/5 and most of today. I didn’t sleep a minute the night of 12/4 and was quite tired the next morning. Around noon, I decided it would be fun to have a migraine aura, followed by a full blown migraine headache. It lasted well into today.
I have had migraines forever, and after around the age of 50 or so, learned of the pleasure of “visual migraines”. I’ve read that 8 in 100 people have migraine auras (start in brain and can be seen in both eyes). And that 1 in 200 people have ocular migraines (are retinal, and effect just one eye). Well, I’m the luckiest person you can imagine. I have both. Usually, the ocular migraines are just a “cool” light show in one eye, causing a blurry spot that grows into a colorful jittery crescent shape that grows and slowly move off the side of the eye. As it leaves the “vision” I swear I can actually feel the shimmering at the edge of my eye socket. Most of the time it is not followed by a headache, and is just an annoyance for the 10 minutes to an hour it takes to grow and leave.
On the other hand, the aural migraine, looks about the same, except it isn’t in the eye at all. It is in the brain. You (I) can see the light show from either eye. And it has a tendency to cause me nausea and lots of sensitivity to light and even sounds — and I already have issues with both because of ADHD. The worse part is it does frequently proceed a real headache complete with the little guy inside the head using a pick axe trying to escape.
Both variation cause me to get exhausted. But the real headache takes it to the next level. So, yesterday I was in headache mode, and today, I have the stamina of a dead turkey. At least I got a little sleep last night. I did see every hour on the clock, but I frequently slept for a half hour during each hour.
I think Kitty knew something was amiss. She seemed to come back into the bedroom just after I woke up each time. Who knows how she decided to show, but maybe I was screaming or something. But she was there, and almost every time, she barely meowed, and gave me a head bunt, and then laid down a few inches from my face and purred. It was a nice sound, and I think that’s what allowed me to fall back asleep.
She has slept on my bed, at various spots before, but never slept real close to me. Likely afraid I would kick her or toss her off the bed, or roll over on her. I have a tendency to move a lot while not falling asleep. I’m hoping tonight I’ll get a good 3 hour stretch of sleep. It would help get me going again.
Anyway, this is what I’ve been wanting to work on for the last few days.
Everything is setting on the table waiting for me to glue and assemble a bunch of these.
And here is my Nurse, Miss Kitty. The little red mouse is from an Advent Calendar sent to her from her southern cousins in Florida. And she is laying on Mini Kitty. That’s why it looks like she has so many legs.
I do hope the headache is going away for now. It is pretty much gone at this point, or I wouldn’t be doing this much typing!?! If it is, tomorrow I can get back to my assembly work, and Enjoy Life
