01-05-2025 — Gummed up
Howdy all. The gummy, I took around 7 - 7:30 pm, may have had some effect. But, it took a lot longer to do anything the expected hour or so. It was much closer to midnight that I realized that my thoughts had started to be less scattered. And soon after that, I fell asleep for multiple hours — like 2 1/2 - 3 hours. And then, after just a few minutes, a second time for 2 hours and then maybe a third for an hour. —Yeah, that’s like 5-6 hours total. For me that almost never happens.
While I didn’t want to get up, it was because I felt I could easily fall asleep again at 6:30 - 7 am. So I asked Alexa to turn on the ceiling light, and fetch my morning “flash briefing” (news from various sources — like NPR and Fox and CNBC, etc. — I want all views of same news)
Anyway, I think I’m going to have to figure a way to get the gummy in me much earlier so it has 4-5 hours to get out of my gut into my bloodstream. Of course last night could have been a fluke, so I’ll need to repeat this a few times to see.
But getting 5-6 hours of sleep each night might be a game-changer. I wonder if it will change the game to make me regret this choice, or change it so it is even easier to Enjoy Life
Afternoon update — I did the liquidation sale of my accumulated silver coins/rounds and gold junk and coins. The .999 silver rounds were like spot price -7%. Less return than expected. The silver eagles went for a little better price.
The various “common” U.S. silver dimes and quarters, I’ve accumulated over the years, went for much lower than I expected. But the real winner was all the scrap 10k-14k gold I had found over the years. That pretty much put the total $$$ right about where I had guesstimated. It is no where near enough to buy a backup battery system for the house. Shoot, not even half of a usable setup. But, I never liked the idea of having even that amount of thief attractant (lure) sitting around the house. Now it is safely in a checking account losing value — like “smart” investors don’t do.
I also had about $50 in Coinstar coin machine returns which I promptly used to buy a small bag of groceries since the machine was at the Giant Eagle grocery store. Side-note — Gas prices are sitting between $2.25 and $2.55 here today. That is like 60-70 cents cheaper than the last time I drove by.
Returning to subject — The Office Depot awards, for every five year’s working, turned out to be non-gold and the tiny diamonds were 1 tenth of a carat each. Value of $0.00. A lot like my 25 years at Office Depot.
On the other hand, the NYSE pin they gave out really was gold. Well. It was gold-filled. As in trash metal covered by a tiny layer of 10k gold.
Better news being that some of the jewelry junk, that I found while out walking the ODP parking lots, including gold earrings and such, was up to 14k gold.
That added up to almost $400 of the total take today. Pure shock about that. So picking up shiny things on the Office Depot grounds was worth much more than the “valuable “ awards they gave out for working hard. No shock there.
It is now just after 6 pm. I guess it is time to Gummy up and Enjoy Life
