06-07-2025 — Yellow Rose of Madison

Howdy all. The rain/drizzle has stopped for the day. But the Air Quality has gone really bad. Well over 100 the last few days. Not good for me, or anyone else.

If you wonder what that air quality looks like, here is a picture when it just hit 100.

It is like a bad fog, but gritty to breathe. And smells like a dog took a dump in your never washed gym shoes.

But other than that, it is a beautiful day — inside. I did step outside this morning because I saw this out my front window, and wanted a picture.

Darn near perfect Yellow rose. Many others opening too.

Had a neighbor stop by today.   Unexpected by me or his parents.  Oops. Would you believe Kitty alerted me that someone was outside?  Yep.  She seems to have been watching from upstairs window and when she zoomed downstairs I thought she wanted food.   But instead went to patio door off of deck.

I didn’t see anything except dirt on deck from planters.  Was thinking there must have been some dip-shite teenagers that came through the year. Then I heard something in garage.  I opened the inside door and saw outside man door was open.  As I coward-ed behind the door, ready to shut and lock it quickly, I yelled some manly words about get your butt out of my garage.  And a skinny little kid, without shoes, runs by and out the door.

I stopped shaking and walked out after him and he was playing on the deck like nothing happened.  Duh.  Realized he was one of neighbor’s boys who is deep on the autism spectrum.

I tried to convince him to let me take him home but that was not happening.  Kid was smart enough to not let some strange man take his hand. And the last thing I wanted to do was manhandle him.  So I walked next door (as he ran around yard) and I could hear the parents yelling for him inside.  I yelled something stoopid like, I have your son, and Derick, his father, was super quick to come out to find where he went.  He was one more house away.

All is well. Kid was not traumatized, parents examining how he escaped. (he pushed through a screen out front).   Kitty went back to hiding somewhere.  Me, I was just glad it didn’t go bad.

I ordered a wi-fi lock for that door. One I can control with Alexa or code numbers. I never remember to carry a key. This way I can set up a routine that will lock the door each night. Will make me feel safer to Enjoy Life
