01-15-2026 — Steps to frozen Heck
Howdy all. Just thought I do a pictorial of the progress of this winter event.
7 PM on 1/14/2026 — The snow covers the grass, and the 32 degree temperatures start freezing the wet concrete.
And then the snow really starts to blow in.
By 10:30 pm, the concrete is also covered by a layer of snow. Pure ice underneath now with temperature in upper 20s
And then the snow/wind pick up again.
The drifting is already started.
By 1 am on 1/15/2026 you can see bigger drifts forming between my place and the neighbor’s driveway.
And while the snow and winds have let up for a moment, you can see the drifting even on the deck.
Out front, the drifts are a tad higher too.
These are the conditions I got up to face. The 44 degrees from yesterday morning is now 15 and wind chill is MINUS 6.
The trash still needs to get to the curb. Between the garage and road the snow was between 2 and 6 or so inches deep, depending on drift.
That minus 6 felt more like minus 40 Celsius/Fahrenheit. And moving the trash cans to the roadside is likely a futile endeavor. Just a small chance the Waste Management truck will really show up today.
The snow is beginning again as I type this in at 8:45 am.
I have no doubts that there will be more accumulation soon. I feel for the snow plow drivers. Imagine pushing snow for hours, just to turn around and see it has blown right back to the same driveway/parking lot.
Weaver’s Snow Plowing to the rescue.
The worker even clears, by hand, in front of the garage door, and the walkway.
The drifting in by the front door looks to be about 1 foot of snow. His “snow plow” shovel is buried. BTW, those are great shovels. I had mine even before Weaver’s found out about them.
Within moments of him leaving, it is starting to get covered again.
At least any delivery driver can get through — assuming they want to do so.
That’s as far as I want to go outside right now.
The real-feel, wind-chill, is now a MINUS 9 Fahrenheit == MINUS 22.8 Celsius — Where is Obi Wan — you are our only hope.
And an hour later, real-feel at MINUS TWELVE — No fight left.
At 11:15 am on 1/15/2026 it looks like nobody plowed nothing. Winter in Ohio Sucks.
Resistance is futile. We will all be assimilated. Can a snowman Enjoy Life ??????
