01-23-2026 — How low can it go?

Howdy all. A beautiful, somewhat sunny day here today. Take a look.

You can see where I tossed salt on walkway and near front of garage. Snow covers the ice on the driveway. It is less than 2 inches of snow, so the plowing contract does not require a push. And I’m not going out there.

Did you notice that it is a bit chilly right now? Yepper. It is 8-9 degrees Fahrenheit, and -20 degrees “real-feel” or “wind-chill” temperature. That -20 Fahrenheit equals a nasty MINUS 29 Celsius degrees. And there are quite a few days like this in the next 10.

It is one of those single digits days. If you are out there for 5 minutes, you won’t have a single digit left without frost bite. Brrr. Anyway, at least there isn’t much snow, right? Well here is Sunday’s forecast.

Snow all day, adding up to 10 inches of white hell on the ice that won’t go away.

Oops, sunshine is gone, and that is snow falling over the park, not fog.

I “idled” the truck for about half an hour yesterday, holding the gas pedal down to get to 2000 rpm. That is the best case for charging the battery up some. I don’t drive enough to keep it fully charged. So, I ordered a trickle charger yesterday, and Amazon delivered it this morning. I will need to get it on the truck’s battery in the next couple of days. And hope street electricity stays up. I’m not sure I can count on my portable generator starting in temperatures below zero.

This is not the way to Enjoy Life.
