01-24-2026 — Minus three or worse

Howdy all. How cold it got last night depends upon the recorder. My thermometers in the yard got too cold to transmit? One did record minus 1 around midnight. My phone said it was minus 3 when I got up.

Alexa was saying it was minus 7 at the same time. I did leave the kitchen sink faucet drip all night. And today too. Even with the cupboard doors ajar, it got down to 43 under the sink against the wall. The walls on the northwest of the house are very chilly to the touch.

The forecast is still guessing 8-10 or more, inches of snow tomorrow (Sunday) with daytime temperatures from 10-19 ish. That will make for an almost dry fluffy snowfall. The kind that could be moved with a leaf blower. Well, could be, if you were silly enough to go out there and use it… The ice layer on the driveway will not be leaving soon. Looking at the longer term forecast, it may be February 14th or so before the temperatures ?rise? to freezing (32 degrees).

We did have one quick electric reset this morning. I think it was due to them working on an outage a couple miles east of here. Likely a flip of a switch to reroute power to the sector. I did have to reset a bunch of air purifiers and lights and security cameras. Just another reason I want a full battery auto fail-over backup system. Anyone want to donate the $25,000 it would take to have a proper one set up? It certainly could help make it possible to live here and Enjoy Life
