03-13-2026 — Lucky Friday?

Howdy all. So today is Friday the 13th. A day known for bad luck. It is 1:30 pm now. So far the weather has given us some snow, some rain, temperatures from the 30s to about 45 degrees Fahrenheit. And winds that have also been from 5 mph to 45mph gusts. The winds are set to reach over 30mph with gusts pushing 55mph. 30-55mph are car driving speeds!

I’m already quite anxious. And every time I hear a howl, or something knocking about, outside, I start to shake a little. Hard to believe I managed to get through as many hurricanes in Florida, as I did. The first few, I was one of the knuts standing on their balcony, or outside, watching the trees bend over and stuff fly by.

But after multiple roof repairs, and fence replacements, and screen enclosure rebuilds, I couldn’t take the winds anymore. Even inside my house with sliding shutters, and generator backup, and knowing the latest roof was “guaranteed” for category 5 winds, the sounds were my enemy. It isn’t the slow buildup of winds that get you, it is the wall of winds. I’ve been beneath the eye of a hurricane like 3 times. When that wall of wind comes through, that’s when the sheet hits the fan. Watching tiles from neighbors’ roofs slam into your concrete walls, leaving dents, or watching trees topple over and expose their roots, is unforgettable.

While the winds up here in Northeast Ohio, haven’t reached that level (often), the mind remembers. And we seem to be getting gusts at the tropical storm level, many times each month.

I guess the state of the world (well mostly what the government of the U.S. is doing), is not helping. Worry about the possibility of world wars, worry about moral decay, worry about macro economic failure, worry about individual financial failure (hey I need the Social Security and Medicare that I earned and paid for), all just keeps anxiety high.

So, when the weather also chimes in to make the day gloomy, I am ready to climb under my bed and hide from everything. Sadly, my fat arse can’t get under the bed. And if I did get down there, they’d need a crane to come get my up off the floor.

Will this be a day of bad luck? Or, could this be one where the world decides to give this old man and his cat, a break? Stay tuned, and I’ll let you know. Until then, do find your own path to happiness, and Enjoy Life
