04-17-2025 -- Coon skin cap - tag, your it.

Howdy all. A lovely day outside right now. No, not kidding. Really is. Was 26 overnight, but winds slowed down and sun came up and out. 56 Freedom degrees at 1 pm. Some winds, but not bad.

When I was taking trash out this morning, saw my Northern neighbor outside. We had a great chat about this and that. One item was his coming neighbor to his north. They will likely finally build this year. A nice “small” two story home that will be situated close to the road. They needed a building permit variance to build six feet closer to the road than normally allowed.

Personally, I think it will be great having a big wind obstruction between my front yard and the lake. Those bitter, ice-cold breezes from the north, will be knocked down and make it less likely for debris to blow into my front yard, and, maybe make snow-blowing easier since it won’t blow back into my face as I clear the driveway.
Go For It.!!!

Had a cute visitor on my front camera last night.

Curious Coon Checking Camera

I have lots of security camera clips of this critter and the various cats and possum and squirrels and birds and skunks and etc., that roam about in the wee hours. I’m just glad Kitty doesn’t see all of the visitors. She usually comes scampering into my bedroom when she does. Wants to make sure I’m there to help her defend the kingdom.

I’ve been working on creating some organization of filaments for the 3D printers, over the last few days. By seeing what others are doing, I have a “plan” of sorts.

First, I wanted tags on each of the AMS slots that would show the type of filament within. With 12 possibles on the one printer, and 8 on the other, remembering is getting more difficult.

I’ve printed off a tag that hangs off the front of an AMS — the green thing on the right. That one is for slot B3 — The 2nd AMS(B) 3rd slot.

On the left is a set of Bambu Lab filament swatches — I have another set of these coming as a “gift” for my latest purchase of filaments.

The idea is to slide the specific filament’s swatch into the holder — as you can see the green swatch in the gray holder on that green tag.

This will work great for the Bambu filaments, but other manufactures don’t supply swatches, and printing them off one by one myself, is not how I want to use my time.

So, I also did this.

I 2D printed the various colors I might use from a coupled of manufacturers onto paper. And will do a quick cut and paste onto the following.

The white pieces are big enough to hold the glued printout, and they slide over the top of a tag.

Thus, I can show which other branded filament is in the AMS slot.

Sort of like this which is the AMS unit A for the Carbon X1 printer.

Of course this is only good for the “active” filaments. I’ve ordered 18 Cereal storage containers that I will stick some of those filament holders on the outside, and these slide in clipboards, will also slide in the closures on the containers. So, if I take out one of the many green filaments, I can put it in a container, and move the swatch to the container too.

I’ll be tossing desiccant bags in each container to keep the filament dry.

In concept, I should be able to easily identify what is being used, and what partial rolls of filament I have on the shelf. I hope this not only works in concept, but here in Madison too.

Will make it easier to handle my play time, and to Enjoy Life
