04-29-2025 -- Landscaped again
Howdy all. While it is still quite nice outside, 75 and not completely cloudy, it is a bit windy already with gusts around 35 mph. Weaver’s Lawn Service came and did up the landscaping promised. And more. Lots more trimming / pruning / weeding than I expected. It looks fabulous. Here are the pictures to show the progression.
This is where the shrubs got destroyed by the big snows. Do notice the block perimeter, and notice the hyacinth plant off the front of the deck, and how messy the sticks look.
The ground was messy and had bits of landscaping fabric sticking up.
Bob Rototilled the bed to mix up the soil and get it ready. We did throw down 16/16/16 fertilizer to help with the new plants.
Out front, they pulled all of my fake plants and statuary to get those beds ready.. Also removing any weeds they found.
Quite empty other than some spring flowers, and a rose bush.
They started adding new black mulch.
My toys are in the lawn, safely out of the way.
While a couple were working out front, or way in the back yard around my shed, or in my neighbors yard, others were working on my deck area.
They went through a lot of that perty black mulch. One wheel barrow at a time.
And the results are great. These back of garage beds have perennial flowering plants that are just beginning to make their presence known. Tidy and weed free now.
The pink flowers (can’t recall their name) and the winter roses, look great against black mulch.
And the hydrangea never looked neater. Yes, they will still blossom this year. They just won’t look so darn messy, and climb up and through and over the deck rails.
And look at the new shrubs for the north side of the deck. These will only grow to 3x3 feet each. So they will get just above the deck floor, but not over the top rails . And look at the block perimeter. Kyle did a fabulous job lining them up and making it look great. Jessica picked these fire-something another ball shrubs. I think have the touch of color, not just green, will make them pop against the red deck. Great choice.
Bob re-trimmed this shrub, and the one on the other side of the house too, making this look really clean and neat with the new black mulch.
With all my “toys” back in the front beds, they are looking back to super fine. I’ve ordered flowering plants for the planters, but it will be a couple of weeks before they arrive.
The fake flowers in these pots will also be replaced. But it is looking fine right now.
This side of the house, where the other shrub was trimmed again, also looks great. Those plants that are sticking up through the mulch are Easter lily flowers. Except, mine seem to flower closer to fall.
I didn’t take pictures from around the shed where there are flowering plants like behind the garage. Those beds are now also weeded clean, and mulched. Nor did I take a picture of the tree ring out front. Also weed free and mulched. Nice.
I did a few small items myself out there while the weather cooperated. Put the rest of the crop tags in the garden beds. And added some fresh potting mix over the carrot seeds I sprinkled in their beds yesterday. Only need to cover them with a quarter inch of soil.
I put the rest of the bag of mix into a couple of the empty tomato/pepper beds. I have another 1.5 cubic foot bag to add when those plants arrive in a couple weeks and get transplanted. Also took the opportunity of the landscaping to add a balanced fertilizer to all of my flowering/leafing plants. That fertilizer go worked into the soil when they topped it with mulch. Should make it much easier for all my plants to Enjoy Life
