05-10-2025 -- Wall to Wall Ball

Howdy all. Weather started in high 30s overnight and is now well into the 60s. Even sunny out there. But, and it is a beeeg butt, the forecast is for possible freeze/frost tonight. Yep, a warning was issued. Most likely to be south of here, but can’t be certain seeing as they keep saying lows in 40s, and I get lows in 30s. The lake is supposed to help keep the temperature more consistent the nearer you are. And this place is just a few hundred feet away.

The chilly start to the day did not stop the baseballers from playing in the park across the street this morning starting at around 9 am.

I think they’ve gone through 3 games, with different teams. Every hour and a half or so, all of the vehicles leave, and a new set arrive. And the kids getting in and out of the passenger seats are wearing different colored uniforms.

Someone asked if I hear the ball hitting the bat and the shouting of the crowd all day. And I was surprised when I thought back and realized, I never hear them shouting. The families never seem to be rooting for their team or even their kid. The only noises I hear are from the non-playing children that are running amuck (politely!) through the street and the rest of the park. They are enjoying themselves. The adults seem to just sit there smoking their cigarettes or vaping.

Strange world we seem to be in. At least the kids are trying to Enjoy Life.

No, not stopping there today. In other news…. My mouth, is slowly improving. Still annoying, but better than yesterday.

And, Burpee delivered today. I have boxes with flowers, and plants, and vegetables (9 tomato plants and 3 pepper plants). Add that to the 3 cucumber plants I have indoors to replace the ones that froze out in the garden bed, and dozens of pepper plants indoors that seem to be stuck as seedlings, and one Melon plant that Bill’s son/wife gave to me, and bean seeds waiting to go into the ground, and I have a bunch of gardening work to get done.

However, as I stated above, frost/freeze warning in area for overnight. Will wait until Monday before doing my gardening transplanting, unless forecast changes tomorrow.

I do want to get the plants into the ground, so they too, can Enjoy Life.
