05-12-2025 -- Let the plants grow. Please!

Howdy all. It was a beautiful looking day outside. Temperatures started in the 50s, and rose into the 70s. Sun was in and out most of the day. Winds were not too bad. Butt, this is Ohio by the lake, east of Cleveland, and south of Toronto. What does that mean, you ask?

It was like trying to breath in a concrete block, for me.

That did not stop me. It was the first time this year when the forecast is not calling for low 40s or lower temperatures in next 10 days. And, it isn’t raining or super windy. Time for me to get some of those plants outside.

The fake flowers are boxed up for the next 5 months, and real flowers are in the bed. The tall flowers around the tin bin are “Easter” lilies. Mine seem to blossom mid summer.

The buckets have also been re-filled with real flowers instead of plastic.

Even added some real ones into the well. Should be flower powered soon.

I also added the pilated wood pecker to my front tree. Already fooled one person into thinking it was a real one.

After a brief break, I then headed out back to the deck.

I wanted to add these plant hangers to the deck rail, to fit between the new ball shrubs.

I love the butterflies.

Those deck pot holders were a royal pain to assemble.   The first one took 45 minutes to get right.  And while most of the 7 others were quicker, I kept getting the similar looking pieces in the wrong place and having to take them apart and start again.

The last one only took about 3 minutes.  By then I could see the minute differences between them.

I watered everything, including the existing plants in the garden, real well. If may rain tonight/tomorrow, or may not.

carrots and onions and potatoes

Tons of strawberry blossoms.

more carrots. Beans will be on the bottom side.

More Taters

At that point, I thought I may have to stop for the day.  Cramp in left calf.     Remember, I can’t put knee to ground, so everything I do is bent over and reaching.

But if I had to stop, I’m glad I got this far.  And I watered everything out back too.  So if it doesn’t rain tonight the gardening will survive.

I recovered with the help of some nasty smelling ointments, and then went back out and transplanted 9 tomato plants and 3 peppers and 3 cucumbers and one lonely melon.   Also about 20 soaked bean 🫘 seeds.  Yellow and purple and green bush beans.  I remember reading somewhere that if you soaked the beans for a day or so prior to planting, that they would sprout quicker. We will see.

Everything I transplanted also got a great watering and I feel accomplished for a day.  Yeah, I hurt and it was like breathing a concrete block out there, but I done gone and did it. Even if I pay the price tonight when I cramp up while in bed, this is the way to Enjoy Life.
