07-06-2025 — Quite Hot and dry humidity
Howdy all. Wowzer. It seemed hot out there this morning. Alexa says it is 87. Humidity in upper 60s to low 70s. Winds relatively light for here. But from the south, of course. Can’t get a lake breeze on hot days. Only cool ones.
It last rained a good amount about 10 days ago. Oh, and the Air Quality sucks. As in it sucks the life out of me.
I had no choice today than to water the plants outside, or watch them dry away to dust. Put a sprinkler on the garden beds back by the fence for an hour and a half while I handle the watering of plants out front. I repotted a couple of the flower pots into larger self-watering containers, just a tad smaller than the ones on the deck. Since that went well, I ordered two more of those pots. They hold a reservoir of about a gallon of water at the bottom. Should allow these flowers to last a week, I hope. And I did water the other plants, like those “Easter” lilies — oh, they are really Oriental Lilies, that grow 2-3 foot tall the first couple of years, but can reach 6-7 foot tall on year Three — and it is year three. The front hose can reach around the garage and get the raised garden beds near the garage, so I hand watered them. There are some beans getting almost large enough to eat on a few of the plants. The cucumber vines are trying to escape into the neighboring beds now. Lots of blossoms, and a few tiny fruit. I did see two bumblebees (or maybe carpenter bees?) in those blossoms. Yippee.
Peppers still look like they will not start growing for another month. Oh, and Potatoes and carrots are needing harvesting. Seems early, but I can see large taters on the edge of the top soil.
All of these sunflower type flowers are from seeds from last spring. I put no new seeds in these self-watering containers this year. First a bunch of wild-flowers popped out, and now these midsized sunflowers. Quite the display.
I have been trying to 3D print off a couple of intermediate shelves for in my display cases, to show off the many 3D prints I’ve done. The first attempt was a major failure because I altered the design in such a way that it couldn’t hold up to its own weight, and fell apart. I am now printing a different design that seems to be working. I will get pictures of the completed cases when I’m done.
I also printed off this claw foot tub for the Dummy 13 to lounge in as Dummy Dog drinks from the commode.
Hey, it may not be functional, but it is creative?
Time to cool down from the outside, and breathe a little filtered air, so I can Enjoy Life.
