08-07-2025 — Progress is progressing

Howdy all. Weather is same as last month or two. Dry, mostly hot, lousy Air Quality that makes me choke and cough. Latest lie from porncasters is a chance of rain in about 5 days. But even then, just a sprinkle.

So, what can I do? Watch too much TV and YouTube. Try to clean up my ancestry tree on Ancestry.com by using their latest “pro” too that finds 2nd cousins or closer, and groups them via presumed parent/grandparent/greatgrandparent using the section of DNA they match to me and each other. It is a cool tool, and when they expand it to all grouping at the GGGP level (3rd cousin), just might narrow down the identity of Mister X (my father’s father).

This is my father’s side. The orange is his Mother’s Mother side. The pink is his Mother’s Father side. The blue-green is his Father’s side. The green is also his Father’s side. I can figure out quite what is going on. with that group. It only shows every so often. Notice the grey boxes. Those are where the person shares with others that are from same grandparent. So the grey on the green area suggests that they have DNA sections from my Father’s Mother’s side too. Or that is how I interpret it. For example, Sandra Coppa is 2nd cousin from the Malz/Snyder line, which is from my father’s mother.

There is also a new Beta tool that allows me to see the DNA connections to me for my ancestors. So if I pick my Father’s Mother’s mother (Jennie Snyder) it will show me any ancestry.com clients (that permit it) that are DNA connections to me, that I don’t have in my tree, and will show the connection and allow me to possibly add them. I say possibly because if there is a living person in the tree above them, I don’t get to add the living person, thus, I can’t add the connection. Dang them and their privacy!!

I have also been doing more organization in the toy rooms. The other day I posted pictures of the new shelf under the one 3D printer’s table that allows me to store filament holders on it. Well, they holders are on casters, and they would roll of the edges as this clumsy old man tried to reach other rolls. So, I added an edge around the shelf. Used 3/4 x 3/4 in square wood dowels.

Now the filament shelf holders can easily roll, but not off the back / front / sides.

Just a couple quick chops using my Dremel Scroll Saw. Perfect for cutting small craft sized wood.

And today, I finally put up the shelves over the CO2 laser (still not set up to run, ugh), in that room.

It was a royal pain trying to get into that corner and make those floating shelves abut to the corner. Getting them level was easy in comparison. And my shoulders were complaining by the time I finished screwing in the supports for that upper shelf.

Also added these two slide-out trays for some of my paint organizers. I can pull them out and they will not fall over. Thus making it easier to get to the paints in the back. I have 2 more slide-out trays for the shelf above. Just ran out of energy.

The room is starting to look less hoarder like again. No boxes on the floor.

Sure wish I had the willingness to do more today. Like installing the 40watt laser in the Diode laser (green case at bottom of picture). Or, getting that CO2 laser up and running. Or getting the software for both updated or installed.

And then, all of the upgrade/fixes for the 3D printers in the other room. I try to set “deadlines” for myself to do these things, but just don’t have the incentive to follow through. I gave up forcing myself to meet deadlines when I decided to stop working 24 hours a day and learn to Enjoy Life.
