10-03-2025 — Last butchering by me
Howdy all. Weather same. Well less wind and warmer today. 77 and humid. But no rain coming until at least Tuesday (today is Friday).
So, I got my big butt outside and finished the yard plant cutting that I will do this year. My two compost bins are overflowing with greenery and such. Today I attacked the Hydrangea bushes out the back of the deck. This spring, the lawn service trimmed them down to little basketball sized plants (about 1 foot in diameter). Even in this drought year, the foliage would not stop growing. Up and over the deck and the railings. Look at this mess.
Not as many blooms as a normal year, when I would be trimming hundreds of dead-heads about now. But the greenery is a bit much.
Right side.
Left side. Looking from the back yard, of course.
Right side after I butchered and cleaned up the mess (well most of the mess).
Left side after butchering and clean up.
More importantly, the view from inside the house. Kitty will be able to see more of the yard again. I’m sure that will make her happy.
Of course, I will let the lawn service clean up my clean up. They do a much better job.
And I need to bag up the lounges and deck boxes yet this year. Also have a hose reel that needs to be disconnected and put away.
I also carried 4 bags of potting soil to the fence garden beds, and added to one lower bed. Another 4 bags will be here tomorrow and I’ll need to spread those too.
But that should be it for the fall cleanup season, and I can pretend winter will stay away long enough that I can Enjoy Life
