11-05-2026 — Sock it to me

Howdy all. Well, today may be the last 60 degree high day for the year. Only 30s-50s for the next 2 weeks per the porncasters. I had gotten a message, late last week, that the lawn mowing would be skipped this week (yesterday), and the final mow would happen next Wednesday, prior to a fall clean-up to be scheduled.

Well, after they cleaned up my garden beds, and so much more, last Wednesday, I figured that was great. However, in the following 24 hours, the trees dumped more leaves than they had done previously, in total. Slightly messy.

By this morning, things were looking like this.

Ugh. So I went out and cleared the driveway at least.

In the few minutes it took to pull in the trash cans, post pick up, a few had blown back on the driveway.

Close to the house/garage out back, it was messy… But

Near the shed, you can’t even see grass. I don’t know how well the “final” mowing will go with a carpet of leaves in the way.

And, as I like to remind people, I have a single black leafed Maple tree out front (small, and still full of leaves), and ZERO trees anywhere else on my property. Yep, these are all volunteers from neighbors. Gee, thanks a lot. NOT..

I sent a picture or two to the lawn service. My guess is they will do the clean-up, and then a final mow. But that depends upon the neighbor who has most of the trees, agreeing that it is time for the clean-up on his property too. Just doing my lawn would be a futile effort. More would blow in from their yard in moments.

I did go out to do one tiny thing today.

That’s the last of my needed winter prep. It is a thermal insulated “sock” to keep the faucet from freezing in the super cold weather. I’m not sure it really helps,

It may not help, but it eases my mind just a teeny bit. That is just one way to Enjoy Life.
