05-01-2025 -- Is this May Day?
Howdy all. Yep, it is. Nobody seems to mention it anymore. Also it is International Workers’ Day. May they work for another year.
Another day that was supposed to be lots of storms and rain. Well, there was a minor sprinkle for about 5 minutes around 10-11 this morning. Barely got the entire deck to be wet. More may show around 4-5 pm. We will see. Could use it for the new plants. What isn’t needed is more days where the high is below 50. And Saturday-Sunday both may be that. Ugh. I need sunshine and heat.
5 pm update on weather. Yes, it started raining around 3 pm, complete with thunder. Radar is showing “Green” for the next few hours, and a little orange too. So it will likely be drizzling/raining until 8 or so. Good. My garden beds need it.
Brother Bill’s son, Bill, has scheduled to come tomorrow (Friday) to pick up a bunch of woodworker tools. I told him about a scroll saw, and a miter saw, and a workbench sander. But, I also have a folding workbench, with clamps to hold power tools, and a bench grinder on a stand for sharpening tools, and a set of wood planes, and a set of wood files, and a handheld belt sander, and more.
He is looking into doing a lot more “hobby” type woodworking. I only know because FaceBook asked if I wanted to join the beginners group he had just joined. Um, no thanks. I like having all my fingers and toes. I was willing to use those tools to do odd jobs around the house and deck or fence, but I’m not going to ever want to make my own coffee table or bird house. Well, I may 3D print a birdhouse.. I just hope he doesn’t pick up the nickname countdown. As in count down how many fingers he has left. 10 to 9 to 8 to 7….etc.
Anyway, I moved the stuff, other than the miter saw, which has a big-arse table it sits on, to the front of the garage. Those bench power tools are heavy toys. I had forgotten how heavy. And now they are sitting on the garage floor. I don’t think I’ll be picking them up for him. Just looked, and they are only 25-45 pounds each. Still too much for me anymore. He’s just a bit over 50 y/o. At that age, I could still carry one in each hand.
So, that’s it for today. I do hope that with his new toys, Bill will be able to continue to Enjoy Life.
