07-30-2025 — Purple rain
Howdy all. Heat Advisories and Air Quality Advisories and barely any rain. That’s what the weather has been for way too long. Maybe the predicted rain for late today and tomorrow will actually come through this area. My garden is a mess of mostly dust. If I water, it evaporates in a couple hours. Strangely, the air is full of water. The humidity has been running from 75 to 99 percent.
Yesterday I did get my first tomato “harvest” rather than one or two.
Picked about 2/3rds a quart of tomatoes last evening. If I knew how many were ready, I would not have purchased a quart at the grocery store Monday morning.
And some onions that were not going to get bigger because plants were already gone.
The soil is bone dry for at less 4-5 inches in the back beds. Lots of cucumbers needed picking but I have some in fridge and don’t want more. So….
I picked these 16 or so and will get them later if no critter (human?) finds them. That makes for like 50+ harvested from the 3 plants. Many more coming.
I did manage to get about ¾ quart of beans this morning. Based upon the plants that are barely surviving, Purple bean plants do better in the high heat and dryness. This may be enough to feed 4 people that are being filled up on other entrees.
I keep hoping I will come up with enough energy to get upstairs and put up a couple shelves and start moving things from the 3D printer room floor, to the shelves. And, to get those updates to the printers, that may lessen poop chute failures, installed. Of course, once I get that stuff done and tested, I need to get back to the laser room upgrades. Among other things.
So, to anyone who reads this, don’t be like me. Don’t procrastinate. And Enjoy Life.
